Jorge LÓPEZ – ESCRIBANO studied harpsichord and basso continuo at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid with Alberto Martínez, and in The Netherlands, at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Jacques Ogg and at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Menno van Delft. He has participated in harpsichord masterclasses by Frédérick Haas, Lars Ulrik Mortensen and Richard Egarr.
He collaborates regularly with various ensembles and orchestras for concerts and recordings such as La Madrileña, Musica Temprana, Vox Luminis, Opera2Day, La Capilla Real de Madrid, La Folía, L’Aura Rilucente, Orquesta Barroca de la Universidad de Salamanca and Stavanger Barokk under conductors such as Ton Koopman, Lionel Meunier, Christina Pluhar, Ryo Terakado and Enrico Gatti. As a soloist, he has been presented in several festivals such as ‘Les Heures Musicales de la Vallée de la Bresle’ (France) and ‘Les journées de claviers anciennes’ (France). He is founder member of the Ensemble Sopra il Basso, formed with all kind of basso continuo instruments combinations and specialized in 17th Century Seconda Prattica. With this group, he participates in the 2012 Residence organized by Ambronay Festival in France.
He works as harpsichord accompanist in the ‘Academia de Música Antigua’, in the University of Salamanca (Spain) and currently teaches harpsichord and basso continuo in the Conservatory of Santander (Spain) and in the summer courses ‘Les Heures Musicales de la Vallée de la Bresle’ in Le Tréport (France).
