Manuel MinguillónLA MADRILEÑA - EARLY PLUCKED STRINGS
Manuel Minguillón was born in Madrid, where he studied with Gerardo Arriaga and Jesús Sánchez. After finishing his bachelor he moved to Basel, Switzerland to study with maestro Hopkinson Smith. Later he joined the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where he obtained a master’s degree and a doctorate in interpretation of early plucked string instruments with master Paul O’Dette.
Manuel collaborates with groups like Gabrieli Consort & Players, Monteverdi Choir, Baroque Soloist Inglés, Florilegium, La Nuova Musica, Galan, The King’s Singers, Charivari Agreable and Al Ayre Spanish, The Company of Classic Theater Spain, Nereydas, Vespres d’Arnadi , Delitiae Musicae, Impetus, La Dispersione, the Baroque Orchestra of Seville and La Orquesta Barroca de Salamanca, Music Alchemica, Harmonia Parnàs, Ludovice Ensemble and Accademia del Piacere and La Madrileña which leads him to play all over Europe, North America and Australia .
He has played for some of the most prestigious conductors and soloists such as Paul McCresh, John Elliot Gardiner, Paul O’Dette, Laurence Cummings, Benjamin Bayl, Eduardo Lopez Banzo, Carlos Mena, Emanuela Galli, Vivica Genaux, Romina Basso, Anna Bonitatibus, Emanuel Cencic among others.
Minguillón has more than a dozen recordings for some labels like Brilliant Classics, Signum Records, Enchiriadis, recording with bands like The King Singers, Delitiae Musicae, Charivari Agreable, Nereydas and Delia Agúndez, among others.
He currently lives and works in Madrid where he teaches guitar and plucked string instruments Renaissance and Baroque in Mingui Study and Baroque artistic director of Opera Studio www.baroqueoperastudio.com.
